TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language
TOEFL is required by most universities to judge whether or not the student is capable of understanding written and spoken English, especially in a college or university setting.
There are currently 2 types of TOEFL.
1) PBT – Paper Based TOEFL / Institutional TOEFL
2) iBT – Internet Based TOEFL
PBT is usually required by universities locally in UAE. It comprises of 3 sections plus an essay. There are the listening, reading and grammar sections. The whole test takes 2.5 hours.
iBT is usually required by some universities locally and most universities abroad. It is a lengthy exam with 4 in-depth sections. There are the listening, reading, writing and speaking sections. The whole test takes 4 hours.
